2 Workshops with Mira Tessman

  • YogaBodyWorks 1/204 King St Newcastle, NSW, 2300 Australia (map)

“Hello Yoga Body Works Community,

My name is Mira and I'm a 500+ hr. yoga teacher and yoga therapist, living and teaching yoga in the U.S. (Baltimore, between New York and Washington, D.C.)

I am most passionate about teaching yoga as an antidote to the stresses and worries of daily life and as a healing art. My teaching is accessible to various levels so that my classes reach a wider range of abilities. My classes are also informed by my experiences as a clinical psychotherapist and mindfulness meditation teacher.”

In addition to teaching yoga and meditation, Mira is also a holistic psychotherapist, using a mindfulness-based and body-oriented approach in her private practice in Towson/U.S.   She has been facilitating expressive arts, healing, meditation, and spiritual growth workshops and groups since 1990. Mira was also co-founder and co-director of the Heart's Journey Wellness Center.

Mira is bringing two amazing workshops to YBW:

"Surrender & Manifesting Your Heart's Intention for 2023"

Discover what your heart truly longs for in this New Year by letting go of grasping and clearing away the static that distorts clarity. Since the mind and body are mirrors of each other, surrendering in the body opens space in the mind and visa-versa.

In this workshop, we will explore Yin Yoga poses to encourage release and letting go of tension and contraction held within the connective tissue around the hips, pelvis, and shoulder joints and make space for mindful awareness of the intersectionality of breath, body sensations, emotions, and subtle energy flow. Ending with a restorative yoga practice will encourage deep physical relaxation, open-heartedness, and mental clarity for the emergence of the heart's longings and visions for the New Year.

Saturday Jan.21st

Starts 4pm

$45.00

“Stress & Tension Release for Building Resiliency"

Life’s stresses, challenges, and traumas can dysregulate the nervous system and lead to chronic states of Fight/Flight/Freeze. Despite moving forward, we may experience states of overwhelm, brain fog, distractibility, and diminished self-confidence from stress.

There is a saying, “stress is in the body, not the mind.”

This workshop will engage us in a sequence of movements designed to prepare the body to release stress and tension from our nervous system. By fatiguing large muscle groups and facilitating the release of accumulated tension and stress stored in the psoas muscles, we will regulate the body’s nervous system towards its natural state of equilibrium. Integration of healing and peace will enhance resiliency through a deeply relaxing Yoga Nidra.

*Bring a journal or notebook and a pen or pencil.

Sunday Jan.22nd

Starts 10am.

$45.00

And you can join both workshops for $80.00
